Ukraine is set to build a float glass manufacturing plant in the Kyiv region by 2028. The NovaSklo project aims to construct a large-scale float glass facility in Ukraine. The initiative aims to reduce Ukraine’s dependence on imports and attract investment into the country’s industrial development, even amid the ongoing war.
Why is Ukraine launching a glass manufacturing project?
The Ukrainian government is also supporting the initiative. Andriy Teliupa, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, said: “Glass manufacturing is a critical sector within the processing industry, playing a strategic role in construction, industrial production, and the country's post-war recovery.
What will a glass factory do in Ukraine?
It will also manufacture architectural glass, glasses for solar panels, self-cleaning glasses, glasses for household appliances, ultra-clean glasses for electronics, automotive, tinted, laminated and tempered glasses. It is believed that the plant will almost completely cover Ukraine’s need for glass and send some of the products for export.
Is glass made in Ukraine?
Currently, glass is not produced in Ukraine, and the country's economy is completely dependent on products that are imported from Europe and Russia. Agromat is carrying out the project together with an American technical partner, where 600-700 people will participate in the construction.
